We're having a birthday party and you're invited
Plus, a special anniversary discount offer, and we want your feedback on the podcast
Greetings!
Yes, it's Friday, the day of the week when The Edge publishes its big story of the week. That's to come later this afternoon, but for now, I wanted to take a moment to share with you that we are one year old today! Without you, this milestone would not have been possible.
Please join us at our Ask Me Anything Potluck at Native Bagel on November 2 to help us celebrate. And by us, I mean me, my board members, my contributors, and hopefully you!
We had been asking that only paid members of The Edge community join us in the celebration, hoping that it would be an incentive for you to become a paid member. But, we've heard from some of you that you'd like to bring a friend who isn't a paid member, so, PLEASE feel free to bring a friend!
And if you (or your friend) have been meaning to become a paid member of The Edge community, to mark our anniversary, The Edge is offering a discount this weekend. From now through the end of the month (Friday, October 31), enjoy a 25% discount on a yearly subscription (that's $22.50 off!):
Updates
No City Hall this week
Firstly, this would have been the week for a story on the latest from City Hall, but the Council meeting was cancelled this week.
Did you know The Edge has a podcast?
A couple of weeks ago, The Edge dropped a new podcast. The demand for it has been disappointing. I am not sure whether that is because I didn't make enough of a fuss over it, or if you're not interested in it. However, the feedback I have gotten is that the podcast is top notch in content and production values.
So, I am not sure whether to continue this offering or kill it. With so many pieces of audio to seam together, it takes a lot of work and so is not cost effective in the least if no one bothers to subscribe to it. If more people download it, I might keep at it. If you have thoughts, send them along to me: editor@theedgebereaky.com

Star Party podcast with local astronomer, Jeff Hutton
There is a second podcast, (because why make things easy?), however, that is pretty straightforward because it's just two people talking, so the audio is easy to produce. Coming next week, it's Star Party, a conversation between local amateur astronomer, Jeff Hutton, and me, about the skies, the stars, and science in general, and where I poke at Jeff to make him argue convincingly for his points of view, and as a result learn new things!
If you are interested in learning more about the stars, the dates for meteor showers, and other heavenly peregrinations, and also like to listen to banter about the origins of things, then this is the podcast for you. COMING SOON!
That's all for now, folks. Please RSVP for the party. We can't celebrate without you!
Thanks!
