On the Edge is where you can hear about arts, culture, society, and all things at the edge of Appalachia in Berea, Kentucky. Since the parent publication, The Edge, is focused on hard news and local government, this podcast offers the softer side of our community.

On this episode, we visit with Richard Olson, co-founder of the Berea Urban Farm, to learn about their Farmacy program. Next, it's a chat with Alysia Mora, board president of Room in the Inn, Berea's emergency housing program during the Winter months. And lastly, we visit the Appalachian Writer's Conference held annually at Boone Tavern.

Programming note: In the RITI interview, we discussed including four video links in the show notes, but we were unable to locate the links. We will update this page when we do.

This podcast is a labor of love, but also a way to invite the community to become more invested in The Edge. We, which is me and my assistant, Connor Williams, intend for this podcast to be twice monthly, but we're still finding the right rhythm.

Either way, starting in November, the podcast will be for paying members of The Edge community.

Please tell me how you like the podcast, and feel free to send me suggestions for what you'd like to hear on future episodes.

On the Edge is a Curious Media production, sponsored in part by Press Forward, Blue Grass. Disclosure: Melissa Newman, founder of the Appalachian Writer's Conference is the executive director of PFBG.
