While most people know and love a Girl Scouts Thin Mint cookie, the real impact of our program goes far beyond cookie sales. What we’re really celebrating is the Girl Scout Leadership Experience which is girl‑led and hands‑on.

Across Madison County, Girl Scouts are learning, growing, and stepping into their potential.  Every troop, badge, and hands‑on opportunity is designed to help girls discover their strengths, develop lifelong skills, and become leaders in their communities.

Our local organization is growing, too. There is a need for troop leaders, event helpers, mentors, and community partners who are willing to show up and make a difference. No special skills are required to become a volunteer; all you need is commitment to supporting girls as they learn, grow, and discover their potential. We will train and support you as you work with your troop.

Girl Scouts show a strong commitment to the community by engaging in hands‑on service and leadership projects. Local troops actively participate in community‑focused efforts, such as food and clothing drives, school projects, pet food drives, and they facilitate and participate in holiday parties and celebrations at local assisted living facilities.

There was a troop that earned their Silver Award by creating an event after Covid to provide free haircuts to all local students in the Madison County schools.  There was another troop that donated duffel bags to foster children, and one who created owl boxes for the trees at a local park.

All troops create their own projects and experiences based on their interests and what they see as a need.  Girl Scouts are encouraged to take part in community service and Take Action projects that address local needs, create sustainable change, and help make the world a better place. None of these opportunities would be possible without volunteers.
