UPDATED: Identity of Berea bank assailant revealed
Flags in Berea were at half-mast Friday morning after the deaths of two US Bank employees shot during an armed invasion of the bank's Berea branch on Thursday.

Brailen Weaver is the name of a man who shot and killed two Berea bank employees on Thursday. He is in federal custody, but is being held in a Lexington detention center, charged with armed robbery and discharging a firearm, resulting in death. Weaver's arraignment is expected to be on Monday, May 4, according to sources.

A press conference will be held at 2PM at the US Attorney's Office in Lexington to apprise the media of developments in the case.

Weaver, 18, from Covington, was apprehended early Friday morning after a high speed chase and a manhunt on foot through the northeast corner of Fayette County, according to a law enforcement officer who spoke with The Edge but whose identity is being shielded, as the officer is not authorized to comment on the case. The Federal Bureau of Investigation has now assumed responsibility for the case, with assistance from the Berea Police Department, according to multiple sources.

Weaver was found at about 6:30 Friday morning, walking on Interstate-64 near mile marker 88, near the Bourbon County line, the anonymous source told The Edge. Weaver was nabbed by a team of officers from multiple local, state, and federal agencies.

At about 2 PM on Thursday, Weaver entered the Berea branch of US Bank on Chestnut Street and shot bank teller Breanna Edwards, 35, to death. He also shot customer service consultant Brian Switzer, who died later at St. Joseph's Berea hospital. He fled on foot, before leading law officers on a high speed chase through much of Central Kentucky before his arrest this morning.
