Red Oaks Forest School's mission is to foster a deep and lasting connection to nature and community through education, exploration, and play. We offer nature-based programs that serve kids of all ages in programs that range from weekday, weekend, and after-school ensure that kids have access to nature-based education and play regardless of their educational choice.
We build community for all ages through shared adventures and experiences outdoors. We have found nature to be a great place to meet across differences and build bridges since nature is a place that we can agree is an important space for our physical and mental health.
Red Oaks has something for everyone looking to build confidence in the outdoors, meet new people, and who need a little more time outside. Making time to connect to nature is easier when you have a community to support you and Red Oaks is honored to be that community for all who come.
We are located in Berea, Frankfort, Lexington, and the Red River Gorge Area. Specifically in the Berea area we are partnering with Melody Youngblood, Berea College, Berea Forestry Outreach Center, Glades Community Garden, and Maywoods Natural Area.
We don't have regular hours but, basically we have programs Tuesday through Saturday each week, and most people come 1-2 days a week for their nature time, environmental education, and enrichment. There are fees associated with some but not all programs. We also offer financial aid and scholarships to help reduce any barriers.
